DIY is very popular in recent years. It is a kind of creative and hand-made work. I made a Brass Pirate Octopus Whistle using metal crafting. Hand-cast hand-polished hand-oxidized and aged, the entire whistle is cast in one piece in brass, with the fish and rudder hand-inlaid in purple brass on the sailor's cap, and the octopus eyes are hand-enameled and filled in to look like real octopuses. Silver is used where the whistle touches the mouth, a very intricate process has been used to create a small whistle, this is not a tool like a whistle, this is a work of art.

The octopus has always played an important role in sailors' lore. There is a legend among seafarers about a huge monster that lives in the sea and will drag ships to the depths. It was large, with long suction cups covered with tentacles used to grab and wrap around helpless veins. Of course, no such creature has ever really existed. But it was mainly based on tentacled creatures such as octopus and squid. DIY makes us happy. It is a precious craft and a warm game. Most of our lives are devoted to work and busyness.
